1. What you read is a form of communicating with yourself. Books, blogs, newspapers, magazines, all shape your perspective. This why the Amplified Bible says "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105". Reading the Bible helps you tell yourself His will and plans for you.
2. Another form of communicating with yourself is through music. It determines the atmosphere of your thoughts. Music shapes your mood, your feelings and it touches the depths of your soul. The soundtrack of your life points to your highest desires and reflects and often times precedes your experiences. Even in biblical times, music was believed to have healing properties. David was introduced to Saul because of the soothing music he was gifted to produce. God uses music to communicate with us. And He created us to use music to worship and praise Him. Just think about every creature he made has the ability to make a joyful noise. Have you every been to a church, any church, that did not have some form of music?
3.Finally, the things you see and watch model what you desire in life. The things you view influence your perspective on your purpose in life. We are very visual creatures. Why do you think that even in 2012 a silent film "The Artist" can win an Academy Award. There is a saying "A picture is worth 1000 words". In 2012 there are pictures everywhere: TV, internet, cellphones, ipad, ipods, etc.
A crucial piece to communicating with yourself in order to propel your career to new levels is to find some scriptures and make them personal. You must put your name in there, even in the third person. But for me, the word "I" has been quite sufficient. Some people call them personal confessions, or declarations. I believe it is a way of telling yourself God's word to get your thoughts and actions in line with His will for my life and career.
I say the same words to myself in the parking lot of my job and on my way into work.
"I am the head and not the tail.I am above only, and not beneath.(Deut 28:13) I am strong and I will do great exploits.(Daniel 11:32). In Jesus I live and move and have my being.(Acts 17:28)"
As I walk through the doors, I intentionally hold my head up and push my shoulders back and talk myself into success.
