So here are 4 networking tips for a July 4 cookout:
1. Mind your manners: Always keep a napkin handy. Make sure that you are conscious how you look even while you are eating. Remember Mama said, "Don't talk with your mouth full!" Stay away from onions and garlic! Be sure to listen more than you speak.
2. Don't dismiss anyone as irrelevant. Ask the person that you are in conversations with about themselves and their family. Show geniuine concern. Ask yourself this question: How can I help this person accomplish their goals? Networking is about giving as much as it is about receiving.
3. Have some prepared conversation starters:
A. Ask How do they know the person hosting the gathering?
B. Wear a what'sit to the party....something that will distinguish you as different. This will allow other people an opportunity to ask you about your unique item and where you got it from. Be sure to stand out in a positive way, so that you will be remembered.
C. Give a compliment...
D.Ask the individual where they are from? and how did they end up relocating to this area? ( most people are transients)
4. Carry a Business Card...with your name, phone number, email address, and website!!!!!!!
